REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL
MAY 22, 2007
A Regular Meeting of the City Council of the City of Ogallala, Nebraska, was held at City Hall Council Chambers in said City on the 22nd day of May 2007 at 7:30 o’clock P.M. Present were: President of the Council: Darrell Bassett; Council Members: Kevin Block, Harold Peterson and James Rezac. Absent: Mark Knudsen. City Manager: Steve Krajewski; City Clerk Administrative Secretary: Naomi Thiesen; City Attorney: Absent.
Notice of the meeting was given in advance thereof by publishing one time in the Keith County News and posting at the City Hall Administration Building as shown by the Certificate of Publication and Posting Notice attached to these minutes. Notice of this meeting was simultaneously given to the President and to all members of the Council on May 18, 2007 and a copy of their Acknowledgement of Receipt of Notice and the Agenda is attached to these minutes. Availability of the agenda was communicated in the advance notice and in the Notice to the President and Council of this meeting. All proceedings hereafter shown were taken while the convened meeting was open to the attendance of the public. The President of the Council stated this meeting is being convened in accordance with the Open Meetings Act and acknowledged a copy of the Open Meetings Act being duly posted in the southeast Corner of Council Chambers.
Councilman Rezac moved to approve the consent agenda. Councilman Block moved to second the motion. The following council members voted Yes: Darrell Bassett, Kevin Block, Harold Peterson and James Rezac. No: None. Absent: Mark Knudsen. Tim Miller of L&L Mobile Home appeared before the council requesting a single water deposit for multiple accounts at L&L Mobile Home Park.
Councilman Rezac moved to adopt the ADA and Section 504 grievance procedure. Councilman Peterson moved to second the motion. The following council members voted Yes: Darrell Bassett, Kevin Block, Harold Peterson and James Rezac. No: None. Absent: Mark Knudsen. Motion declared carried.
Steve Krajewski, City Manager, updated the council regarding the Canyon Drive Drainage problem. He informed the Council that M.C. Schaff & Associates have been contacted to evaluate the drainage in this area.
Councilman Rezac moved to approve the contract for the intersection replacement project at 10th and West B Street with RBP Construction of Ogallala in the amount of $71,687.00. Councilman Block moved to second the motion. The following council members voted Yes: Darrell Bassett, Kevin Block, Harold Peterson and James Rezac. No: None. Absent: Mark Knudsen. Motion declared carried.
Councilman Rezac introduced a resolution amending the City of Ogallala Job Title-Salary Range Table and moved for passage of said resolution. President Bassett read the Resolution and Councilman Peterson seconded the motion. Upon roll call vote, the following Council Members voted “Yes”: Darrell Bassett, Kevin Block, Harold Peterson, and Jim Rezac. The following Council Members voted “No”: None. Absent: Mark Knudsen. Motion declared carried and Resolution No. 1225 adopted, a copy of said Resolution being attached hereto and, by this express reference, incorporated herein and made a part hereof.
Councilman Rezac moved to approve and certify the amended list of volunteers, as submitted by the Certification Administrator, as qualified participants in the Volunteer Emergency Responder Recruitment and Retention Act Plan of the City of Ogallala, for 2006. Councilman Block moved to second the motion. The following council members voted Yes: Darrell Bassett, Kevin Block, Harold Peterson and James Rezac. No: None. Absent: Mark Knudsen. Motion declared carried.
Steve Krajewski, City Manager reported that on Wednesday, May 16, 2007, he presented information to the Keith County Commissioners on the creation of a County Airport Authority. The Commissioners stated they needed more time and information to consider a proposal.
There being no further business to come before the council, Councilman Rezac moved to adjourn. Councilman Peterson seconded the motion. The following council members voted Yes: Darrell Bassett, Kevin Block, James Rezac, and Harold Peterson. No: None. Absent: Mark Knudsen. Motion declared carried and the meeting adjourned at:7:56 P.M.
