REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL
JANUARY 22, 2008
A Regular Meeting of the City Council of the City of Ogallala, Nebraska, was held at City Hall Council Chambers in said City on the 22th day of January 2008 at 7:30 o’clock P.M. Present were: President of the Council: Darrell Bassett; Council Members: Kevin Block, Mark Knudsen, and Harold Peterson. Absent: James Rezac. Interim City Manager: Jane Skinner; Deputy City Clerk: Naomi Thiesen; City Attorney: Michael McQuillan.
Notice of the meeting was given in advance thereof by publishing one time in the Keith County News and posting at the City Hall Administration Building as shown by the Certificate of Publication and Posting Notice attached to these Minutes. Notice of this meeting was simultaneously given to the President and to all members of the Council on January 18, 2008 and a copy of their Acknowledgement of Receipt of Notice and the Agenda is attached to these minutes. Availability of the agenda was communicated in the advance notice and in the Notice to the President and Council of this meeting. All proceedings hereafter shown were taken while the convened meeting was open to the attendance of the public. The President of the Council stated this meeting is being convened in accordance with the Open Meetings Act and acknowledged a copy of the Open Meetings Act being duly posted in the southeast Corner of Council Chambers.
Councilman Block moved to approve the consent agenda. Councilman Knudsen seconded the motion. The following council members voted Yes: Darrell Bassett, Kevin Block, Mark Knudsen, and Harold Peterson. No: None. Absent: James Rezac. Motion declared carried and the consent agenda was approved as follows:

Councilman Rezac entered the meeting at 7:31 P.M.
Council President Bassett proclaimed January 27, 2008 through February 3. 2008 as Catholic Schools Week.
Council President Bassett proclaimed the month of March 2008 as Gambling Awareness Month.
Kendra Caskey, Library Director presented the annual report for Fiscal Year 2006-07.
Ken Knoepfel, Planning and Zoning Administrator, addressed the council regarding the Schmidt Motors Replat No. 1, a replat of Lots 1 through 10, Block 44, Aufdengarten’s 1st Addition to the City of Ogallala, Keith County, Nebraska.
Councilman Rezac moved to approve Schmidt Motors Replat No. 1, a replat of Lots 1 through 10, Block 44, Aufdengarten’s 1st Addition to the City of Ogallala, Keith County, Nebraska. Councilman Peterson seconded the motion. The following council members voted Yes: Darrell Bassett, Kevin Block, Mark Knudsen, Harold Peterson, and James Rezac. No: None. Absent: None. Motion declared carried.
Councilman Rezac moved to accept a 1989 Lincoln Town Car Cartier VIN number 1LNBM83F9KY813445 from Delbert McKeag for use as a courtesy car at Searle Field Airport. Councilman Block seconded the motion. The following council members voted Yes: Darrell Bassett, Kevin Block, Mark Knudsen, Harold Peterson, and James Rezac. No: None. Absent: None. Motion declared carried.
Councilman Rezac moved to approve change order number 1 for the Old Highway Water Main Replacement project in the amount of $9,163.50 for a total contract price of $61,071.97 with Paul Reed Construction of Gering, Nebraska. Councilman Knudsen seconded the motion. The following council members voted Yes: Darrell Bassett, Kevin Block, Mark Knudsen, Harold Peterson, and James Rezac. No: None. Absent: None. Motion declared carried.
Councilman Knudsen updated the Council regarding the City Manager Hiring Process.
There being no further business to come before the council, Councilman Rezac moved to adjourn. Councilman Peterson seconded the motion. All present Council Member voted “Yes”. Motion declared carried and the meeting adjourned at 7:58 P.M.
