Ogallala Board of Health
Meeting
January 19, 2010
A meeting of the Ogallala Board of Health was called to order at 7:00 P.M. by Chairman Buck Bassett in the City of Ogallala Administration Building, 411 East Second Street, Ogallala, Nebraska. The meeting was convened in accordance with the Open Meetings Act. Members present: Buck Bassett, Dr. Paul Foy, and Dave Kling, Chief of Police. Absent: Dr. Kurt Johnson and Mary Lou Heelan. Also present: Ogallala Police Department Code Enforcement Officer Eric Troxel.
Notice of the meeting was given in advance by publication in the Keith County News, the designated method of giving notice. Notice of the meeting was delivered to members of the Board of Health by hand delivery of an Ogallala Police Officer.
Public Forum: Bassett opened the public forum and invited any individual wishing to speak to the board to come to the podium. Bassett advised that the Public Forum would remain open for the duration of the public meeting.
A motion was made by Foy to approve the minutes of the November 17, 2009 Board of Health meeting, seconded by Bassett. Voting Yes: Bassett, Kling, and Foy. Voting No: None. Absent: Johnson and Heelan. Motion carried.
Officer Troxel presented the Code Enforcement Activity for November 2009 through January 2010.
Kling updated the board on West Central Nebraska Development District and the removal of uninhabited homes in blighted areas. Kling advised that the home at 215 East 7th was going to be demolished with a grant received by WCNDD. A trailer located at 624 West K was being removed. Also the head of WCNDD was going to talk to the owner of Northwest Trailer Court about the removal of several old trailers. There is no cost to the owner for the demolition or removal and the owner retains the land.
No further business to come before the Board, Foy made a motion to adjourn, seconded by Kling. Voting Yes: Bassett, Kling, and Foy. Voting No: None. Absent: Johnson and Heelan. Motion Carried.
