Minutes

 

A meeting of the Ogallala Board of Health was called to order at 7:50 P.M. by Secretary Joe Humphrey in the City of Ogallala Administration Building, 411 East Second Street, Ogallala, Nebraska.  Members present:   Mary Lou Heelan, Glenn Silvius and Joe Humphrey.  Absent: Dr. Paul Foy and Dr. Kurt Johnson.

 

Notice of the meeting was given in advance by publication in the Keith County News, the designated method of giving notice. Notice of the meeting was delivered to members of the Board of Health by hand delivery of an Ogallala Police Officer.

 

Glenn Silvius moved to approve the minutes of the May 18, 2004 Board of Health Meeting. Heelan seconded the motion.  Voting Yes: Heelan, Silvius, and Humphrey.  Voting No: None.   Motion Carried

 

Public Forum: Joe Humphrey opened the public forum and invited any individual wishing to speak to the board to come to the podium.  Joe Humphrey advised that the Public Forum would remain open for the duration of the public meeting.

 

Discussion was held pertaining to the use of furniture designed for indoor use being used and/ or left setting outside exposed to the elements and possible rodents infestation.  Humphrey informed the Board that the Ogallala Municipal Code is very similar to other communities in Nebraska.  His research did not locate any restrictions pertaining specifically to furniture.  The Municipal Code pertaining to Nuisances does not specifically address furniture however the code does address filthy, littered, trash covered yards and accumulations of unsightly items.   Heelan moved for Humphrey to prepare a proposed revision to the Ogallala Nuisance Code, for the Board to review and possible recommend to the Ogallala City Council.  Silvius seconded the motion.  Voting Yes: Heelan, Silvius, and Humphrey.  Voting No: None.   Motion Carried.

 

Discussion was held encouraging the Police Department to develop a procedure for posting on the City Web page, a monthly listing of individuals arrested and offenses charged by the Ogallala Police Department.

 

Humphrey informed the Board that the next scheduled meeting, Tuesday, July 20, 2004.

 

No further business to come before the Board, Silvius moved to adjourn.  Heelan seconded the motion. 

Voting Yes: Heelan, Silvius, and Humphrey.  Voting No: None. Motion Carried.
